[Mysti]

Mysti tapped a finger against her lips in thought. She wasn't quite certain how to handle this situation, pleasant though it may be. She still couldn't shake that feeling of there being some kind of impending disaster lueking just down the road.

"Well ... hmm ... I'm ready for a change of scenery, I think. Nothing against my Harmonium brothers and sisters -- some of their buildings are sufficiently dark and ... even a little creepy. But ... they lack in aethetics. A lot."

She walked around the table to where Whisper was leaning against the wall and did the same next to him. "We should go somewhere else for awhile -- somewhere not all gray and stony and filled with psychos and killers. Though --- well, to be fair, the psychos and killers are probably in the jail, not in the barracks." A pause. "However ..."

She leaned into Whisper a little and whispered conspiratorially, "I think a few members of the Harmonium are just as psychotic and kill-happy as some of the people I've gone out and captured. Don't tell anyone though."

Mysti gave Whisper a subtle little wink before saying, "So a deep dark forest, is it?"


((Good timing then -- I was rather ill so I wasn't able to post much either.))

[Whisper]

He shrugged and smiled. "I like exploring dark places."

He reached over and took her hand in his. "Maybe we should get out of here now."

[Mysti]

Mysti gave Whisper a somewhat wicked-looking, perhaps even feral-looking grin. Her extended canines were quite visible, poking her bottom lip ever so slightly.

"I've heard that rangers dabble a bit in magic, yes?"

She entwined her fingers with Whisper's own.

"Because I was thinking that very thing. Reading minds now, are we?"

Mysti snickered in a playful sort of way. "Most of the dark places I know about are here in the city. I'm thinking that, perhaps, you'd rather go somewhere ... else?"

[Whisper]

"I do dabble in some magic, yes." he grinned. "Mostly, it's useful for hunting or hiding. For instance, I could create a little hidden space for us here. But, simply getting away from the barracks would be an improvement. There are certainly other places in the city where we can be more comfortable and have more privacy."

[Mysti]

Mysti watched as any number of people passed by the room where they were sitting. A smattering of people even shared the room with them, though the area was large enough that people kept to themselves and -- because of the nature of her work, very few people even knew she existed.

"Yeah ... we've been lucky so far. No ranking people strolled in here causing everyone to practically fall over themselves saluting and standing at attention and all the rest of that useless idiocy so ... hmm. Let's make ourselves scarce. I'm not sure where, though but just about anywhere is better than here."

She pulls on Whisper's arm, all but dragging him along with her. "Got any favorite little places you ever go where you ... unwind? Decompress? Play around with Hush? That sort of thing?"

Mysti stopped at almost every hallway intersection to make sure there wasn't some kind of officer to deal with, then kept moving toward the barracks exit only when she was satisfied the coast was clear.

[Whisper]

"Well, I do like going to the Other Place, to soak in the pool and relax." he said. "With Hush, though, I'll usually go to one of the parks or gardens. He and I do like to visit the Green Mill in Farhome, as well. But, often, we'll just hide away in our apartment."

[Mysti]

Mysti stopped her hasty escape from the barracks, leaning her back and head against the wall. She doesn't say anything for a few moments. Her eyes seem fixated on the spot where the ceiling meets the far wall, her head upturned just slightly.

"The Other Place ... hmm, the Other Place." She turned her dark eyes back to Whisper. "That name rings a bell for me, though I'm not entirely certain why. What is this place."

She then smirked at Whisper. "Not this place ... but, you know ... the ... other place."

[Whisper]

"It's the spa across from the Cipher's gymnasium." he explained. "Massages, quiet atmosphere, and relaxing pools."

[Mysti]

"Ahh, right ... that other place," Mysti looked vaguely disappointed -- as if she expected to be discovering new places before even leaving the barracks.

"I think I've walked past there a thousand times and never paid it much attention. Never seemed like the place I would want to visit alone." She tightened her grip on Whisper's hand. "C'mon, then."

She tugged at Whisper's arm until he began walking with her -- assuming he did at some point -- when she led him out of the barracks and into the relatively open air of the Barrack's District.

"Maybe we ought to -- you said you don't really have any other obligations going on at the moment, yes? Maybe we ought to find somewhere beyond the city. For now."

[Whisper]

He offered no resistance. "Absolutely. The city has been a little crazy lately. More than usual, even."
