Balance, planes, plans and perverts (D5 MA-LA)

[Feature]

After getting lost reading about (rather interesting) trivia about the planes, Feature went back to looking for things that might actually throw some light on what that hooded person was saying a few days back.

That really took a while. And then another. And another one after that.

... maybe they could find something out?

[Thaddeus]

After leaving Fortune's Wheel, Thaddeus needed to head over to the Lady's Library to check back on some information before indulging in tonight's revelries. Seeing an unmistakable figure, he diverts to meet up with his recent acquaintance.

"Hey! Mister Box! It's me, Mister Goatlegs!" This draws some displeased looks and shushes from around them, but Thaddeus waves them off and walks the rest of the way over to the modron. In a whisper he continues, "Hey, you were s'posed to find me on Lady's day. Can't blame you though, been hectic 'round the cage last few days. I just had a meeting with a Rilmani exile, he gave us some interesting, although cryptic information. Also got some dark on what else's been involved with that deader in the Alley. Lot more to it than just a pervert nicking gullies in the Hive." Though whispering, Thad's excitement is readily heard in his words.

You can find some notes about the Balance mainly focused on creatures native to the Outlands called the Rilmani. Research isn't much your forte, however, so you only get thru half-way thru a book before you head starts to pound and you give up.

"Oi, mister Goatlegs!", Feature answers, lowering their voice midway through as the shushes start coming in. 'Aaaaah the last days were somewhat complicated! But... Rilmani, huh?'

They look at the book they had been looking at just now, smile widening.

'That does sound interesting! Although... not more perverted stuff, is it?"

Ugh, sorry, I've been having a bit of a hard time getting back to posting after what happened. Will try to move things along, slowly as it may be!

Thad laughs a little too loudly, again drawing the ire or some of the other patrons of the library. "No, no perverted stuff. Seems like what that berk was saying about maintaining the balance and keepin' the planes from being torn asunder had some weight to it. There's another group of cutters involved, trackin' the murder from the chant. The old spellslinger who got burned up in his library. Looks like the deader we saw was his 'prentice. They lifted a tome off someone and it all went downhill from there. One even thought the tome had a mind of it's own."

The modron takes a while to process all that, whirring all the while. Mercifully, the whirring is not as loud as their speaking had been, and when they do speak again it is in a lower tone. "Uh! That's fascinating! So... it's because of a book?"

The tic-tac chuckle that follows does draw some more irate looks, but at least it's short. "We really expected less sense coming out of it all... but at least it all coming from a book sounds fun! Any clue on what that tome would be? Or where it might be?"

Some more whirring and a loud 'click'. "Uh. We suppose it's probably still missing, right...?"

The whole thing almost draws another laugh from the modron, but they're able to hold it back just to a slightly unnervingly wide grin and some 'click click' sounds in the background.

"A game?? And... the crisp wizard, our poor sod and the Rilmani Perv were all playing, then?"

Some low whirring again. "That does make one wonder who the actual players would be then, doesn't it??"

The big eye squints a bit, then focuses on Thaddeus again. "Huh. This Rilmani exile... did they ever mention why they became an exile, by any chance?"
