"An assistance of your choising might be quite helpful. I think that getting ahold of the tome is quite important? Perhaps it seeks to enact the will of it creator, and that may be a singularly unbalancing being."

He stops drinking and nods his head. "Yes, you should get a hold of the tomb. I'd highly recommend it, in fact. That is part of the game, after all." He then goes back to drinking.

All this talk of apprentices and tomes was new to Thad. He sat and ate his ham and eggs while soaking in the new information.

Before Akh guided the conversation any particular way, he wanted Jemorille to finish his thought. He knew this sort, they liked to feel important, liked a berk to hang on their words. Easiest way to do it was play the role, make 'em feel special like they had the upper hand, and let 'em chirp, "That being said?... You know something, don't you? You sly old fox."

Also, The cuprilach who nicked the one in the alley, if that deader was this 'prentice, said something about the sod not leaving well enough alone and that now that he'd joined the dead-book, it was still in play. If the it in question was this tome, why would they want it in play? Sounds like a very unbalanacing sorta thing."

Cyprian rolled his eyes at the vague and uninspired answers this guy was giving. He certainly didn't see any point in playing on his vanity. "Can you at least tell us what type of demon we're dealing with? Oh wise and immortal one."

"Oh, you'll know it." He shakes his head in the affirmation. "Again, I do not know the orders of the Cuprilach, as we each have our own role to play. As for your own mortal understanding of what Balance is, it is merely the act of neither good or evil, law or chaotic gain too much of a foothold."

He gives a look of pity at Cyprian, like one would give a child who said something stupid, but so adorable. "There is no demon, as far as I am aware of."

The Chaosmen with their shenanigans, the Anarchists plunderin' the Heartless, and this Slaadi horde that's been rampaging all 'round. Sounds like some pieces of law need movin' in your game?...

Or, are these happenings at the bequest of the Rilmani to offset some other danger we laymen are unable to see?

Don't know 'bout the others here, but I came to seek out the Rilmani and find out if there's somethin' I could offer my aid to... Seemed like a unique opportunity I'd hate to pass up."

"We set the things in motions, but we rarely ever need to get so heavily involved. In fact, these may seem like strange occurrences, but they are part of the natural order of things. Chaos comes, Order reacts. Evil gains a foothold, and the good come, riding on their horse and defeat it. Demons consume, devils plot, angels move to counter. So asking to help us with is a pointless endeavor, as you already are. Thru chance...or likely, by design."

"No, I don't think I will." He grabs his drink once more. "Whoever gets it does not matter to the game, so long as it is not used to upset the Balance too greatly. If you do, you need not worry about having to find a Cuprilach, as it seems the wizard and his apprentice seem to learn, albeit for different reasons. It is interesting, however, that they would both require such intervention so quickly after another. After all, a Cuprilach can track any target it wishes, yet it waited for that moment to do so, well after the book was opened and in use. He knew the boy had it, had run off, and was a witness to whatever occurred..."

He finishes his first drink and places it down on the table.

"Why do you suppose that is?"

"Because he wanted the evil infusing boy's actions to run its course until he deemed it enough to have triggered a chain reaction." Akh replied calmly.
