"Well, berks join the dead book all the time 'round here, but it's not usually so flashy. I guess that's why they figured it's worth the chant. Also seems to be some high-ups getting it... Best to be peery though, never know what'll pike 'em off. Best to stay low 'til they're scragged."

Illiam does her best impression of someone who totally 100% gets what was just said. (Though, to be fair, as a bardly sort with a love of words, she had enough of an idea from context clues.) "Huh. I wonder if that guy I met was investigating it..." The girl hums as she considers. "Do you feel unsafe, Thaddeus?"

[Dare Shah]

"I do expect a fine establishment such as this one to ensure the security of all its guests. If only because it would be very bad for business otherwise.

As for getting killed on the line of duty, that's sadly something that happens. I come from a long line of knights, several of which did indeed perish in service of the city they had sworn fealty to. I don't look forward to it, I don't intend to go without a fight if it comes to that, but that's nonetheless a possibility I'm prepared for, with all legal papers already taken care of."

[Thaddeus]

Thaddeus seems to ponder the question for a moment, then a slight grunt escapes his mouth. Maybe he was just focusing on the work being done to his hooves. "Well, couldn't say I've ever felt particularly safe or unsafe. The Cage is the Cage."

"I am not certain to understand what you are alluding to mister. Would you care to elaborate? Are we talking about post-mortem medical care, inheritance related paperwork or something else entirely?"

[Thaddeus]

The pedicurist farrier done, Thaddeus rolls over and sticks his hands into some bowls of water that have been laid out next to him to soak his nails. "I'm talking about the famous Ms. Mhasha Zakk, taxidermist extraordinaire. She offers what I think is a more attractive alternative to the Mortuary."

[Illiam'iira]

Illiam'iira's face scrunches at the idea of being taxidermied. She think she'll just stick to being buried under a tree. She hmms as she hugs the pool's edge to keep facing Thaddeus, swimming lightly with her back legs for something to do.

"I am more of a marble statue atop a tomb kind of girl.

Taxidermy only attempts to imitate how a being was in life whereas sculpting has the potential to transcend it, immortalizing immaterial qualities within the stone. Hence how the Thinker at the Gates of Hell radiates more life than any glass eyed doll."

"I suppose that's all fine and well. Not everyone can 'ford a statue, a tomb, or even a burial.
