[Whisper]

"I'm sure we can find you something suitably exotic." He assured her. "That's the type of thing I do."

[Mysti]

Mysti gave Whisper a slightly surprised look which is soon replaced by a "well of course" look.

"Well, for me ... a companion would be just that. Just a companion." She then gave one of those characteristic shrugs, the kind that makes it look as if she couldn't care less -- even if she does. "So it's not as if I'd have some kind of supernatural connection to it, like a wizard and his familiar."

She thought for a few moments ... then shrugged yet again. "Well anyway. I'd love to have a tressym. But they go for elves mostly. And animals ... well ... they often times react, well, badly to the fact that ... well ..." A heavy sigh. "Sorry, I know I keep saying 'well' all the time. It's just ... what I'm trying to say is ..."

Obviously this bothered her far more than it had at first appeared. "Animals sometimes do not like the -- unnatural part of me. They can sometimes ... maybe always ... sense the part of me that continues to exist when it shouldn't. Even I don't know or understand why I'm even alive when half of me ... isn't."

"Anyway. That's why I'm a little worried about Hush. I'm not so sure he'll so readily accept me as you have. But uh ... if you knew where I might find one of those flying cats, I'd be ... extremely appreciative."

[Whisper]

"He isn't as snobbish as they are." he assured her. "I'm sure he'll like you. I don't see any reason not to like you."

[Mysti]

"I don't know ...." Mysti said doubtfully. "People seem to find reasons enough. Even when they have no idea I'm with the Harmonium. Maybe some folks know about the half-undead thing. Because, well, you know how full of stigma the undead are."

She then offers yet another of her characteristic shrugs -- something Whisper will no doubt see quite often. "Funny that I would be so nervous about meeting your pet. It's like you're bringing me home to meet your parents. Alas, neither one of us can do that for each other."

She then chuckles. "And I hope he gets along well with cats. Because I really do want to get a tressym one day. I hear they even meow. Like an actual cat."

[Whisper]

"When would you like to meet him?"

[Mysti]

"Well ... hmmm." Mysti canted her head slightly to one side as she thought about when. In truth, she wouldn't mind meeting Hush right this moment -- but -- she wasn't in the best of moods given Cyprian's shenanigans -- and she didn't want Hush to catch wind of any hostile or antagonistic emotions that might give him the wrong idea. Plus ....

"I suppose it will have to be tomorrow at some point. I do have a meeting with Illiam'iira later in the evening -- well -- actually it's pretty late. And my Harmonium -- boss -- I refuse to use the word 'superior' much to his annoyance -- has something for me to do. So yeah, looks like it'll be tomorrow some time. That work for you?"

[Whisper]

He nodded. "That should be fine. I look forward to it."

[Mysti]

Mysti nodded her agreement, the hint of a smile present on her face -- but only a hint.

Given that, just hours ago, she had been getting tossed aside like a bag of garbage -- and after years of history, no less -- the last thing she had expected was to sit down for a card game -- and walk away with a potentially life-changing new friend. In fact, Mysti had expected she would have to show Whisper to the door before all was said and done. Now, she might end up showing herself to the door.

She still held her emotions in check -- as much as she might have wished to throw caution to the wind. She hadn't yet decided if any of this was real. Or was it just idle talk. People tend to say a lot of things they don't really mean if only to simply keep the peace.

There was no reason, no evidence, to give Mysti the idea that Whisper wasn't serious. But, then again, how many people would give away their game so easily?

"Wonderful," Mysti purred. "Let's just hope he doesn't bite my hand off." She chuckled, obviously joking. She didn't really think Hush would hate her. But ... with everything else, it was still difficult to believe anything would actually turn out the way she hoped.

"So ... if you truly wanted to go gallivanting out in the forests of -- wherever -- did you have a time when you wished to return to Sigil?"

[Whisper]

"Not really." he shook his head. "I'd like to maintain ties here, but I have no specific plans or commitments. Sigil is a convenient waypoint for exploring the planes, though."

[Mysti]

Mysti nodded slowly, pensively, obviously running through something in her mind. After thinking for a moment, she perked back up again.

"I have to admit -- normally I wouldn't tell anyone this because -- well. Because. But I'm having a difficult time believing anything will ever really happen. I haven't had anything truly positive happen to me in -- a long time."

"Admittedly I'm already running through an inventory in my head -- what to bring, what to leave. Whether I'm going to keep my place above Masty's tavern. Things like that. But ... yeah, I asked about returning to Sigil because, well, I don't really have any ties here, I suppose. But it's as good a place as any to make a sort of ... anchor location."

"And I'm not coming back until I have a tressym." She nods resolutely. The brandy and the earlier alcohol was really going to her head considering how much she's been talking. "Whatever the case, I'm looking forward to this. I bet Hush is, too."
