Faction Rules

  • Players must select from one of the 14 available Factions for player to choose from. If you are a part of a Faction, your lifestyle costs are completely covered, up to a modest lifestyle (1gp) when it makes sense for the Faction to offer you one. As your Renown rank rises, you may request an increase your lifestyle allotment.
  • The only exception to the Faction selection are members of The Revolutionary League. Anarchists may select a second Faction that they wish to infiltrate. They may have the option to opt to instead increase their Renown in their false Faction in order to increase their ranks within the community. However, with each increased rank in your False Faction, a larger amount of eyes will remain on the PC due to their increased importance. (Not to mention potential problems coming from your fellow Anarchists in suspecting you’ve forgotten the cause.)
  • Players may also choose to be Factionless at the start of play. This option will allow PCs to gain Renown thru multiple Factions at the same time, but players must cover their own lifestyle expenses. In addition, you will be restricted in how much you are able to rise in your renown of a faction, the maximum ranks will vary depending on the Faction themselves.
  • Each Faction has certain special abilities attached to them, including a different option on how to spend your Inspiration. You can use these abilities at any time, so long as you are in good standing with your Faction.
  • Taking a Faction background establishes your commitment within your faction. You automatically start at Renown rank 10 within the organization. By not selecting it, you are still considered to be part of it and may join at a Renown rank 3.
