Partners in Grime [Day 3, Midnight, Expecting]

The Ditch was, apparently, eternal.

Almost as eternal as Ikkit's unending quest to sift all of the good stuff off of the shoreline.

And tonight... tonight he had assistance, which was... new.

Illiam'iira comes dressed in her travel clothes -- the stuff she always expects to get grimey -- plus a decent pair of knee-high boots and gloves. Her hair's tied back and up so it can't catch on anything. She's wearing gloves. Her dagger's on her hip in case anything needs cut or pried up. And, finally, a ratty scarf around her neck in case she needs to cover her nose and mouth. A girl's gotta be practical!

Standing on higher ground, the girl takes a moment to survey the Ditch, her eyes pausing on the great bones protruding from its waters and the Knife in the river. It's strange and terrible and a little beautiful, she thinks as she catches the blossoms growing on one of the little islands down-river.

With that she jogs down to join Ikkit. Instead of hollering like she usually would she gives him a little 'hi' once she's closer. Best not draw attention to themselves.

"I didn't keep ya waiting, did I?"

"Nope. No waitin' t'all."

He paused.

"You clear on the job? Y'help look, but y'also head off anyone as looks like they're gonna horn in..."

"Mmyep! Find a reason to talk someone's ear off the second it looks like they're steppin' in on your turf." She grins. "I'm ready!"

"Awright. So."

He led off toward a pile of drifted junk.

"Usually we just find dross, but even dross'll sell if you can imagine a use for it. 'Coz I promise some basher'll have come up with something you never woulda dreamed of..."

He set his sack down to start practically burrowing under a chunk of driftwood.

"Just mind the rats, they bite if you let 'em..."

Illi nods to show she's listening. Got it. Shinies, anything you could maybe convince someone is worth something, or could be made into something worth something. Now she starts looking for her own pile while keeping an eye on the perimeter.

"Want me to punt the rats to you? Also, I can cast a spell to make the both of us more perceptive, if you would like."

You've walked these paths a hundred times, so you can tell, Ikkit, that it has recently been messed with by someone. In fact, there seems to be a a large pile made, almost with intent.

It stands out for Illiam'iira, for sure, who's not really done this before. This pile was just way too...sorted.
