[D1 ME] What's Time Got To Do With It?

Fyne and Lirrax are wandering around the district looking for Suicide Alley. Not the typical person seeking it out, because most folks that go looking are likely more depressed and probably already know where to find it. He gets turned around a few times before getting there.

A well dressed half-elf (at least by Hive Ward standards) slips out of the shadows of a nearby alleyway and after a quick look left and right (it is the Hive after all) approaches Fyne. She makes sure to keep her open hands visible. Probably not a good idea to spook someone wandering the Hive at night.

"Good evening sir. I don't suppose you could use some directions?"

Naila's tone seemed to imply:

(a) Anyone wandering the hive in the evening could probably use directions (usually out at the fastest rate possible)
(b) Anyone wandering the hive in the evening for some time and not being mugged yet might not necessarily need directions out, but were all the most interesting.
(c) Naila was probably not going to attempt to mug him

[Fyne]

"I've just found what I'm looking for. Suicide ally," he says pointing at the entrance from their spot on the street. "So... not really I guess. But thanks for the offer. Out of curiosity... how long have you been watching me? I'm guessing I looked lost?"

Naila looks at the entrance and then at Fyne and then back at the entrance.

"...You don't seem suicidal? Just visiting?"
She takes a moment to brush some trace dust from her clothes and a thin cloak that seemed to match whatever it was pressed against.

"I wasn't following for too long, but I did notice you seemed to be unsure of your way and so I diverted from a very promising night of sleuthing to investigate further. But you seem more than capable of taking care of yourself...unless you are about to throw yourself into the void, in which case consider that a complete misread."

[Fyne]

"I'm actually about to go take a peek at the void. My therapist suggested it. Not..."

He thinks. "That came out weird didn't it? It's because both of us have connections to time and I think they want to know if I can sense anything from it. Like... it's possible it's the demiplane of time."

[Naila Drooten]

"...Okay, fair enough." she accepts that pretty readily.

"Well, shall we take a look? I confess I'm not readily familiar with the demiplane, despite possibly creating it. And you might have a connection to it you say? It doesn't involve an accelerated temporal field does it? I have only just gotten these spectacles comfortable."

[Fyne]

"I wish I could answer more questions about it. Most of what I learned I learned on Toril, outside of the direct evidence of being there... that I can remember," he explains. "But it's where my patron lives. And I have a strange sense for time now."

He starts walking towards the alley.

"But I certainly hope it's not the demiplane of time here, because that would be kind of a cruel joke. Come here to end your life and end up in a place where you might live forever with potentially no way out?"

Naila falls into step beside Fyne, taking in this information with the occasional nod as they enter Suicide Alley proper.

"Memory problems aren't uncommon with issues like this, after all, perhaps in the timestream you haven't even experienced them yet?"
Despite her apparent interest in the discussion her eyes and ears continuously twitch this way and that, scanning their surroundings ceaselessly. Even the painted eye on the shield across her back does its part.

"It would be a rather grim outcome. Expecting death and punished with life....reminds me of a debate I had earlier. We could probably just put up a fence. But us Cagers do enjoy this sort of thing."
Her lips purse slightly at the thought.

"And your patron lives inside? Perhaps their home is continually bombarded by suicidal folk?"

[Fyne]

"No, it's vast. Massive. And where I was I fell for hours or days without seeing a surface to land on. But I did feel wind buffeting me the entire time. Maybe there's a single place where they would be deposited if any portals there were stationary, but I don't remember seeing any other creatures. Just bumping into an invisible being that I'm pretty sure is my patron."

The two continue approaching edge of Sigil and the void beyond...which being Sigil still seems to have a few folks clustered around it even at this hour.

"...Interesting. I suppose on the one hand you're incredibly lucky to survive the experience, while also being rather unfortunate to experience it in the first place. Were you intending to tumble through time or was it the result of some kind of accident? And did you find yourself deposited back on Toril, or here?"
