Having botched cataloguing the prior day, something that may have come as a disappointing surprise to Dhall, Akh was given a second chance to make things right. Her detour from her normal duties into the Lady's Court had been a mistake. Here, among dusty tomes and quiet ashes, she felt more at home. Even with Cyprian hanging around and probably disturbing the atmosphere in some charming way, which was turning out being helpful in distracting her from distractions. By lecturing him, she was putting her own thoughts in better order, and it reflected well on her diligence. The recording errors were being corrected.

There was actually a lot of new bodies to record as well, because of chaos sewn the prior day. She defended against thinking that it may have been chaos itself that had compromised her cataloguing skills the day before, she preferred to think of it as her own insufficient competence or disposition. But the truth of it was that the next day the work was going much better.

Then, a thought struck her. She went back in the records, trying to find cases of murders that could be also attributed to the Kadyx, and their resting spots if they hadn't been cremated. Perhaps she could find more in their mouths.

Having been chastised earlier by Akh he felt it prudent to give her a bit of space. She'd had him help with the simpler cataloguing, but it had been terribly mundane so he finished it quickly then found other ways to amuse himself.

That was ten minutes ago.

'Bored. Sooooo bored.' He thought, 'All the bored. Boring boorish borednessness... ness.

Beset on all sides. My bored bardic army might prevail. But only should the naked elven army assail.

Cyprian hopped up and unsheathed his sword. He posted up to the statue of... someone, probably unimportant, over in the corner away from everything. He then set to practicing his sword art. "Take that!" He spun, "You are indeed a most worthy opponent," he looks to the heavens, "should I roll for deception lord?"

The statue takes psychic damage. He then does a flashy deflection and parry.

"A palpable hit! It seems my time of not taking you seriously is coming to a middle!"

A parry, riposte, parry, pirouette! "Ohh, I've still got it!" He sheathes his sword and bows. "You are a most excellent foe, ummm, Awaiting-death? Huh."

"If you are so bored here, Cyprian, you could always tell me about your yesterday. Though I can tell you that a lot depends on the attitude. There are mysteries to uncover between those tomes and records, worthy of your ballads. You keep your journal for a reason. Here you have a vast reservoir of stories if you find in yourself the patience and diligence to uncover them."

She had been watching his antics with an unsure smile, wondering if they'd ever let her bring Cyprian into the library again.

Believing he'd been free from prying eyes her voice gave him a start. As she spoke he put his head down at her admonishment. "Too true, I'm sorry." he says in defeat, "I've never done well sitting still for extended periods. It's why I incorporate movement in my performances." He rubs his neck, "Ahh but that's an excuse, I know."

"Umm," he looks away sheepishly, "do you mean the fight yesterday, or getting to know the sensates?"

"Either, both? You have made an effort for me to take interest in you, deal with the consequences of my curiosity about your exploits." Her tone lightened.

"Well," he grabs his journal and walks with her back over to the records section. "I was curious about them, the sensates, so I met up with a recent acquaintance. Thaddeus, a fellow bard I think." He recants the tale about the strange device that feeds you sensations. "Then all the non-sense started with the zhaoxi, xaoci... ugh... the crazy people."

He sits and behaves.

"Thaddeus and I tried to get to the bottom of it but failed. Afterwards I ran into Gizby on the way home. There we encountered more crazies running around pretending to be Sensates. We ran them off together."

He leans back and thinks.

"Oh! Not long after ditching Gizby I heard the commotion ramp up again and ran off into the streets trying to sniff the bastards out. That's where I ran into little Illi, her bodyguard, and the clockwork knight Ore." He proceeds to tell a tale about him getting hit with a massive fireball, then in revenge turning Illi's bodyguard, the black-knight, into a type of dragon known as a T-Rex. "I almost finished off one of them. Quev, the bodyguard, ate another. It was a good time!"

"Did you learn anything about these Xaositects you faced? Like why and how now, and in so atypically coordinated a fashion?"

Listening to him attentively, she produced the item she had found on them.

"I had my own run-in with them, them trying to sabotage the memory of the dead. I found this afterwards. I haven't figured out what it is yet."

Oh plenty. Sad terrible jokes haunt the Slags like flies a corpse. Much is attributed to the Kadyx, only half or less are actually him you'd guess. They have that slight tinge, that certain taste of a grin.

The records go back a number of years, recently only one strikes you as having to do with the actual Kadyx and not just a copycat. Reported by the famous playwright Kalamizov Glumfoot in S.I.G.I.S, the body of a Knight of the Cross Trade found in the Slags, nailed to a post. His remains are currently held somewhere in the Mortuary. Ought to be able to find them.

Letting Cyprian assess the item, she was getting ready to look for that poor sod's body.

"Whoa!! That's different!" He begins trying to identify the magical properties of the item. "And sadly no, just a lead about graffiti and... hmmm." Something about the gemstone alignment, and the way the orbs almost resemble planes. So fragile and yet so tightly bound. It's maddening, and yet beautiful.

He conveys what he learned about the wand.
