I understand your distress, begotten by life's struggles and the survival instinct instilled by competitive beginnings. Those definitely would make most develop greedy dispositions as an ersatz for deeper understandings of the purpose of existence. But please give it thought that you don't need to overcompensate anything, and the stake of it all might not be what you think it is. Salvaging something material is still inferior to salvaging the spiritual, the sense of meaning, without which you may ever feel compelled to pursue scraps. Serenity, my dear little one, is to be found elsewhere.

From my understanding, ooze doesn't grow back. It apparently dissolves and incorporates biological materials? So you have to feed the blob when you are done.

So oozes are just sourdough starters that got out of control?
