One Man's Treasure II [Day 1, Late Afternoon, Open]

Ikkit was back at the bazaar, peddling his trash again. It had been a longer night than usual, so he was eating his breakfast- one whole skewered cranium rat, lightly seared- as he sat perched on his sack of higher-end merchandise, while the cheap stuff lay spread out on the blanket in front of him.

As seemed to be usual, his stream of customers wasn't exactly a stampede, but as was equally usual, he didn't seem to mind. He certainly wasn't doing any sort of ballyhoo. In his experience, those who wanted to buy salvage knew what they were after, and those who didn't weren't going to be sweet-talked on any level.

Wandering the bazaar is a drow... a very sparkly drow... who still sticks out like a sore thumb despite leaving most of her shinies with her companion for safekeeping. With most of her money gone she can only window shop but it's still fun!

She pauses at Ikkit's little slice of reasonably priced trash to peer at what he's got to offer. "Hello," She chirps, "Nice... day, we're having?" She's got enough sense to know that's not the right word but hasn't yet picked up the cant for it.

So: what's Ikkit got?

The goblin peered up at her, the cranium rat's skull lodged between his teeth. He took a methodical chomp, enjoying the crunch, and chewed slowly.

"What's nice about it?"

His blanket is festooned with, among other things, a few colored glass battles, a few shards of glass that look like they CAME from colored glass bottles, a few shoes missing their partners, a small pile of ragged clothes in various states of stained decay, a bit of scrap metal, and a small collection of gnawed bones.

The asking price, presumably, isn't terribly high.

"Oh, well, maybe it's just my day, then," She answers very softly, "But it's been nice seeing all the buildings here. Sigil's pretty. Spiky, and pretty, and a bit bony." A sparkle runs across her collarbone like a shooting star to settle over her heart. Illi looks over the clothes and shoes, and then the colored glass, which she pauses on; the girl picks an indigo shard, holding it up to look through it, the emotion growing warmer where it nests. "How much for this one?"

"One copper gets you five pieces."

A pause, in which he picked a bone shard out from between his teeth and flicked it away.

It was good that the Clueless appreciated Sigil, of course, but since he wasn't in the habit of commenting on things people got right, he didn't mention it.

"If y'only want the one, just take it."

There. That was a nice, safe way to express approval.

Her eyes grow wide a moment before she grins. The shard is pressed over her heart as Illiam starts to bounce in place. "Thank you! Oh, uhm, are there any snack vendors around here you'd recommend?"

He sized her up.

Little narrow head, little nubby teeth... probably best he keep it simple.

"Brog Backsnapper- big ol' minotaur back the way you came- he sells a decent-priced rat on a stick. No fancy spices or anything, but the rats is actual rats. Soup at Morag the Unholy's stand is all right, but might wanna ask if the pork is long or short. If y'like sweet stuff, there's this aasimar named Elriina does a line in honeyed tarts, but they're kinda spendy and she's not always in the same place. There's a Githzerai named Hezzgrak runs a little grilled insect stand a short way from here."

The girl listens intently, nodding as she takes this all in. "Oh! Is there one you really like? I'd like something really, really tasty. Though... mmmaaaybe the tarts... if I have enough..."

He blinked.

Then he opened his mouth, showing off the triangular, serrated teeth lining his maw.

Snapped it shut again.

"I like rats, and I catch a few to trade for cooked ones, so Brog gets a fair amount o' my business. Hezzgrak uses some good spices, though. Dunno, not sure how elf teeth take to some of the stuff on offer here."

Illiam grins to show off her tiny fangies in comparison. They're whimpy, but they'll do. "Yeah! I saw you crunchin' that one!" She points at his half-eaten snack. "I dunno what elves eat here, but I like tryin' new things, and none of that... well only one of that sounds unappetizing." With that she claps her hands as she sticks her tongue out. "Okay, I'll be right back!"

...

Illiam's gone for a little while, but she soon comes returns with two large grilled grasshoppers wrapped in leaves. She offers one to Ikkit. "For the trinket," She says gently before taking a bite out of hers. (Almost sounds a little like she's afraid he won't take it.) Crunchy outside, chewy inside, and kinda tastes a bit like seafood, which she already likes a lot. She makes sure to swallow before chirping out, "Oh, that is spiced well!"
