All tasks of the Fraternity were never ending, each dawn bringing more work that what could be taken care of before dusk. Nonetheless, little did Dare feel as much as a Sisyphus copycat as when she was assigned to work for the Bureau of Maps. Sigil was a city where whole buildings could move at night, where you were never certain to find twice the same room behind the same door. And that was on good days, when no one had messed with the various enchantments in the near past.
Instead, she had to understand the logic of some portal device that had just appeared in the middle of the market, and was offering one way trip to constantly changing and seemingly random other locations in the city.
Because the map wouldn't be accurate enough for the Bureau if she just wrote down "Door to Somewhere" on her annotated map.
